ok, this elimination shd make loads of ppl happy...
cheers...
Finally public has made the right decision. Areeb should hv been eliminated much before. The boy sang quite well in the Republic day programme and impressed me for the first time. Anyways, his past bad performance was reason good enough for his elimination.
Now Prakriti's way is clear!!
Kalyaniji,
Kindly give us your expert comments on Areeb's elimination. You hv not given your usual detailed analysis about the contestant and his elimination.
Please give your kind views on the same.
Let me clarify!!
Prakriti's way is clear!! to win this contest. Pls dont think she is going to be eliminated next time.
The little gal will rock her way to the finals.
I think it should be either Prakriti-Vyom final or Prakriti-Aishwarya final.
I am supporting Vyom. The guy sings quite well, has a good personality.
All the best to Vyom.
Jatin either u r misogynistic or extremely deluded.I don't know which is worse.First you kept publishing comment after comment on Ishmit. Now u r supporting d weakest of d top five, vyom, just bcoz he is a boy no doubt.earlier,if i am not mistaken,JAYANT was d object of ur military zeal 2 make sure the male-dominated tradition is not broken.
Since you have kindly clarified as 2 why u believe prakriti n vyom, the weakest of the top 5,shud b in d finales, let me tell u dat will not happen at any cost.most prob. VYOM will b out next week.many ppl believe dat GITASRI shud hav been in top5. any music-lover will know gitasri n areeb sing better den vyom,n even jayant was so gud in his genre.Maybe one of d judges like u is impressed by his 'gud personality' but dey cannot save him from being eliminated next week.even gajji wud want him 2 b out bcoz he fetches d lowest votes out of d 5 of dem.the other 2 judges wud want him 2 b out bcoz he is least talented of the top 5.
Prakriti i feel has more potential den him.her voice is sweeter n more conventional.and whether she wins or not, again I proclaim her top competitor will b either ash(ACC. 2 gajji's script) or ANVESHA(acc. 2 all music lovers--see her youtuve videos it has got d max. views n comments).
so i think ur military zeal is quite unwanted here.Go n do d same 4 rohanpreet in little champs. He needs it,esp. after dat poor anamika bared her doubts as 2 the voting procedure. The best contendor of dat show who has never been in bottom 3 stood up 4 her frnd smita in her won way and d heart-attach was a mask 2 vent out her frusteration at voting sytem.Hope ANVESHA winds here n ASNAMIKA there!!!cheers 2 talent!!
Neelakshi,
Amen to that!
rightly said neelakshi.
In the recent years, I was wondering why India is not reconizing the female talent. In all the competition, hardly any of the female participant reaches the grand finale. Despite having good talent, India did not vote much for them.
This 4 girls of SVOI have shown us that they dont need any sympathy, they have the talent to come in top 4. the best part is that India is recognizing their talent till date. As neelakshi said, talentwise i also feel gitasri should have been in top 4.
Areeb was the weak link among the 6. But I still feel he was better than vyom, if his throat would have supported him. I hope he do the riyaz properly n come back . Vyom should be out next week. I
We dont know how is the challenger episode is going to work. Personally I dont feel, we should introduce any more particpant at this late stage.
Only SVOI comment please, no saregamapa in this blog. Keep this blog virus free.
another interesting post neelakshi...keep going!!!
I have a sincere request. Please, please, please don't compare Anwesha and Aishwarya to anyone, not with contestants on SRGMP, not past contestants of SVOI and NEVER to any contestant from that Indian "Idle" show.
We are watching something special here. Something that happened 50-60 years ago when two sisters from the same family came and took over the bollywood scene by storm and are a force to reckon with, even now.
God willing, if these kids don't get waylaid by human vices, we will see two beautiful voices in coming years (they might actually be able to function in tandem and create a healthy rivalry for each other)
Please don't compare them to anyone, it would be akin to comparing the Moon to a lightbulb!
Kalyani,
I would really love to hear your comments on messages 3, 4 and 5. Somehow, your responses always crack me up!!!
About Areeb," Yeh To Hona Hi Tha."
I agree with hard when he said that something special is happening in vocal music field.
We are winessing history in making.
After Lata ji and Ashaji, it is going to be Anwesha and Aishwarya wo will rule the roost for a loooooong time to come.
I hope I live that loooong enough to hear sweet chiming voices of these to little angels. Bless them .
Hemant
Detroit
Glad I could make you a little uncomfortable to extract such an emotion!!!
The comment was directed NOT particularly at you but at everyone who compares Anwesha and Aish these other nitwits who claim to be 'budding singers'. (I know I get a tad overboard with my bitterness, but these two are worth fighting for :)
So NO, I was NOT singling you out, (not that I wouldn't want to or can't :)
Kalyani, you need to respond before I start using adjectives to address you!!!
LOL
Anyone knows who were in the bottom 3?
@hard,
glad to know i am sitting here providing entertainment...!!!hey, i am desperately trying not to respond to the viral msgs 3,4,5..and u ask for my opinion..tch tch tch..am not a very strong presonality, in this respect...may just respond!!!
yup anwesha and asih are the future nightingales of india...hard, just bcoz u have butterflies, doesnt mean moths shdnt exist[where will u get butterflies from??eh??]..relax...just mentioning the budding singers doesnt detract from the awesome As...
am desperately trying to b a moderator...and u guys want me to respond!!!gosh..
@hemant,
I hope I live that loooong enough to hear sweet chiming voices of these to little angels. Bless them ...
pl dont make remaks like these..those two kids will b singing soon enuff..in another 2-3 yrs... aap aise remarks bhejenge tho..we ahve cause for worry...we need bloggers, bhayya[even if its once a week..]
cheers...
@goofy,
relax, we still ahve a challenger to come,i dont like the concept...but,its reality we have to face..!!!gaj..take my help..i can honestly convert u r reality show into a talent show..with the help of our bloggers!!!
cheers...
No challenger can take on these two wonders. In quality there is no match to these two at present amoung kids,or shall i say professionals.
Amit bhai
what do you think abt the song DEKHI ZAMAANE KI YAARI in KAAGAZ KE PHOOL .
hhmmm.........good i mentioned the challenger...what responses...did i say that he/she wud challenge the 2 As??pl guys, dont read more than what i ahve written...in my post...!!!
ok...now this is a poll...how many die hard fans of anwesha and aishwarya will write in this blog if they r eliminated[god forbid it doesnt happen till the finals]..its a possiblity...lets b practical...
I am not sure how long anwesha will go, but it appears that aish will continue till top 3. as her vote bank is somewhat better.
I am still imagining how the scenario will be, if either of anwesha n aish wont be there in top 3/ grand finale. will it be worth to watch svoi?
i may write in this blog for music related only
Friends
We are in the process of making a separate page (with link of that page here) so that you all can put your favourite songs since 40s till date there.
Tentatively, we have created categories which are as follows:
1) Hit songs post 2000
2) Hit songs of 90s
3) Hit songs of 80s
4) Hit songs of 70s
5) Hit songs of 60s
6) Hit songs of 50s
7) Hit songs of 40s
8) Ghazals
9) Qawwalis
10)Patriotic songs
And we intend to add a few more in this list
a) Hit duets of all the times
b) Hit female solos of all the times
c) Hit male solos of all the times
In addition to above, please tell us if any more categories need to be created. We request you all to kindly send your responses about anymore categories to us on rishi1964@yahoo.com
We, however, personally feel that making yearwise categories for duets or solos would render the page much more cramped as few songs may also be listed in the categories (40s....till date).
@mohan
dekhee jamaane kee yaaree, is one of the songs which I did not like during childhood, but as I grow up I started appreciating it. What a deadly combination of music(SD), lyrics(Kaifi) n signing(Rafi). Its hit the soul.
One of the best composition of Kaifi.
M still confused which song i like the most dekhee jamaane kee yaaree or Waqt Ne Kiya Kya from Kaagaz ke phool.
u r absolutely right amit. But some how the renderance by raffi was at its best with the lyricy by kaifi.
if you listen carefully, the voice of raffi only stands tall and bcause of that the lyric also stands out so well.what a wonderful combination.that is why i feel the pyasa song will come in top three of SDB. which one of the three including the one " wakth ne kiya" will be the first?i feel it will be DEKHEE ZAMAANEKI..
THESE SONGS REALLY TOUCHE THE SOUL
As for the categories... Can we add 2 more categories like...
Best poetic songs of all times
Best picturized songs of all times
A lot of times, these 2 have played a very big role in us liking the song inspite of other weaker fronts!
As for the elimination, this was kind of expected as Areeb had given weak performances for quite a few weeks now and we saw more deserving singers like Jayant and Manasi get eliminated to save him.. But its somewhat ironical that he gets eliminated this week, after he gave a heartfelt Republic Day performance.. His earlier record went against him, I guess...
I would really want Prakriti to get eliminated next.. as very definietly Vyom and Soniya come across as more talented than her (atleast for me)... But I dont see that happening with the strong vote base that she has.. She could eventually win the contest, and one should perhaps be prepared for that!
@goofy,
I think what Loria's dad did, is the general practice for the reality show. What he did was right in its own way, his love towards his daughter. The foolish thing he has done, he disclosed in front of camera. (it appears to me that sayan sen's parents also did that, but they did not disclose) Organizer ask u to vote continuously for the participants.
What happen in Indian Idol II (sandeep acharya) & III (prashant tamang) in saregamapa (debojit). I wont comment abt other reality show, as it will attract the virus, but everyone knows it.
sandeep- block voting from several schools.
prashant-NRIs send funds to darjeeling to set up telephone booth for voting.
debojit- every person voted 20-30 sms everyday from mobile.
Its not lie, I got the info from my friends over there.
In this case, I really wonder, how zee tv has the facility to identify whether vote is coming from one computer or not, when other channels does not have it. In svoi, u have the option, that 20 votes per e-mail id (but not from same computer). Zee allows multiple sms voting, as it brings revenue to the mobile cos. They might not have considered computer voting in this case.
Talent wise, I personally feel Loria was far better than vaishali. That might have triggered loria's father emotions. Loria is very talented girl. at this age itself she is studying in college. Vaishali is a chatter box.
kalyan
even if the two wonders r eliminated early, which will be foolish, there r enough music lovers in this blog .the two kids are like a drop in the ocean of music.
we can continue .dont worry.
cheers
@joyce,
if format remains the same, prakriti will be there till final. Her vote bank wont let her come in the bottom 3. For final, we dont know the format. whether its public vote, then judges round or the other way. If the winner is to be selected by judges vote, then prakriti is going to win, if vyom is there in the final. Otherwise anwesha/aish/soniya will outclass her. (dont know how the challenger episode will work) But if public voting has the last word, then there is none other prakriti.
Amit
Even in the senior VOI the winner was decided by public vote only- Lataji was brought all the way from the cosy comforts of her home just to annouce what was written on the paperslip prepared by Gajji. I dont think Gajji has become any wiser or less greedy in just three months of time.
goofy,
pl take care of u r health...and as a selfish, chalu, self serving blog owner i wish u dont c saregamapa lil champs..watch just svoi chhote ustaads..theres enuff drama here..and more to follow...
get well soon...!!!
Neelakshi,
Already another bong babu Abhijeet had created communal furore in SVOI. So you please stop crying over the "girls dont win" issue.
All girls who lost deserved to lose, and no body can stop a talented girl from winning.
Anyways Prakriti is winning this contest so "smile now".
Neelakshi,
Your using of hard words against me was totally unwarranted and uncalled for.
Madam, India is already divided into castes, regions, religions, please dont divide it further on gender basis. I dont support a candidate on gender basis. I liked Jayant and I like Vyom too, so what's wrong in that. In Television women are calling the shots, all serials and programmes on TV are women based. I dont understand this crap talk of some women crying that girls dont win.
All women dont think like you neelakshi. People vote for the person they like. Anvesha and Aishwarya are good, so is jayant and Vyom.
So madam, for god's sake Please dont create gender divide
i dont think her post was wrong jatin.....i agree with it, unforunately 4 u...and pl dont tell me how to run my blog.u ahve urs.go there...
Kalyani,
Didn't you swear to yourself not to engage in this futile war of words?
I am a witness to that oath taken on this blog :)
Chill out and don't entertain irrational comments.
@Rishi,
Can you please delete all the irrelevant messages that have nothing to do with SVOI or Music. Please.
It has been written by the blog administrators that
"Any comment attacking participants / judges / bloggers based on religion, region, caste, and creed would be deleted."
But Neelakshi's comments attacking me stay as they are. This is height of double standards.
@ hard,
just for u r info[irrelevant to the blog]..viruses do have thick"skin"..thats y they survive for so long everywhere...
Dear Jatin
Neelakshi using the adjectives such as misogynistic or extremely deluded do not come under the religion, region, caste, and creed categories. Hence they are retained as apart from that there was something on VOI. Your response to her was also retained as it did not come under these categories. So where is the question of having double standards when messages from both of you have been retained. Other messages from you, Kalyani and few other bloggers, which were not on VOI, have been deleted.
@hard,curious how u found out abt the new blog...we r waiting for more inputs b4 we link it...to this blog....so post in u r suggestions soon........and we can get it going..
rishis on hot coals to find out how u knew abt it...
comeon guys, wen i say split personality, logon ko gussa aata hai.wen goofy says bipolar , koi kuch nahi bolta..gosh, i am gonna sulk.....lol
Rishi,
I knew this would be your answer. But I have never made personal attacks on bloggers and expect the same from others. Why do you want to make the discussion ugly by retaining Nilakshi's message.
Please dont behave like Australians who indulge in sledging themselves and when the other person reacts, blame them to be racists.
I hope my message is clear and all the sarcastic messages against me will be deleted.
Kyoonki goofy jee hamarey buzurg hain woh supari khatey rehtey hain aur logon ko bhejtey bhi rehtey hain!!!!
ROFL
(lagta hai mujhey aaj bahut jootey padney waaley hain)
Kalyani,
Koi Rishi ko un kylon kay oopar say utaro. Main bhi aakhir lady jasoos Anwesha ka fan hoon, sab dhoondh leta hoon!
Muhahahahaha!
@Kalyani and Rishi
In fact I have also visited that blog of yours... Its looking really good :)
As for how I found about it, well dhoondhne se to sab mil jaata hai :)
ok hard...anymore suggestions??for the new one...if its fine.we will launch it today...with more fine tuning...
oh joyce and hard...thanks....and dont worry hard..let the fiery moderator get in the mood.more msgs will b chopped...rishis too nice a guy...
Jatin
In our opinion, both the messages i.e. from Neelakshi and your response to her are NOT insulting in any sense. As long as the exchange of words does not turn into using foul language or attacking someone on mentioned four categories, they do not deserve deletion.
Regarding Australia's example- when your message has been retained you can't complain that we blamed you for reacting.
As I had suggested earlier - can we have 2 more categories like
Best poetic songs of all times (i.e. songs with the best lyrics)
Best picturized songs of all times (i.e. songs that have suited the given situation best)
We can see some interesting compilations under these 2 heads.
ok.joyce.we will decide.good suggestions.give us sometime...
and no references to cricket on this blog ...pl its a request..i am die hard anti cricket...so...nahi tho poore msgs will b deleted...without second thought
Pritam calls Anwesha, 'Banglar gorbo' shouldn't she be called 'Bahrater gorbo' ?
(Someone help me with the bengali translation)
@Hard - oh yes, she should be called 'Bharat-er garbo'.. in fact she is 'Sangeet-er garbo'!
Thats one thing that really stands out loud in the show.. the judges are trying too hard to promote regional voting in the show... And thats a scary precedence to set!
Thanks for liking the suggestions... I am sure we have great discussions in these and all the other categories!
@goofy, thanks for coming to my defence..and neelakshis...but honestly if it wasnt a blog..i wud ahve ripped that guy apart...i barely restrain myself...and wen i go too far..rishi and hard chek me..
honestly, dont u guys think we shd start a blog where everyone can take potshots at each other and not worry...abt propriety??lmao...
@joyce..its not a new phenomenon..all shows promote regional voting...this shows no exception...nothing to b scared abt..india stands united what ever happens...thats our strength...
guys wats this abt anwesha??sounds half bangla and rest gujrati...am not too sure...not very familiar with bangla...lol
We do take occasional potshots at each other. Like I heard that Goofy paid close to a ,
'khokha' for my supari to Chota Ustad gang!
:)
u know hard..i am tired of deleting msgs...so the potshot blog will b good for ppl to vent their frustrations or gang up on u -know-who...lmao
Anwesha is completely Bengali.. Anwesha Dutta Gupta is her full name...
Some people initially thought Aishwarya was bengali thinking that she was Aishwarya Majumdar.. But she is Aishwarya Majmudar and is a Gujrati from Ahmedabad...
Just clarifying the origin of the 2 girls.. Hope this is not treated as a regional post :)
In addition to already stated previously, we have added folowing five categories also which are as follows:
a) Hit duets of all the times
b) Hit female solos of all the times
c) Hit male solos of all the times
d) Songs with memorable lyrics
e) Songs with memorable picturisation
So now this makes total 15 categories.
Anymore, if any, please.
just what we r discussing right now goofy...how do we choose the no of songs.everyones choice need not b the same...any ideas??or do we allow everyone to put in their choices........and let it drift along??
@ Goofy
As appeared to me, everyone would be having a different set of songs under each category depending upon his choice which he/she can post under comments section. That's it. We (myself and Kalyani) are nobody to decide which are the best 20 or 100 songs. All the lists by all the bloggers would be there as comment only. What I suggest- alongwith the list of songs it would be worthwhile to post its link too so that we can create a sort of archive of such memorable songs (with its link) at one place.
That is what I had understood.
In case you had something else in mind then I am sorry that it would be too long an exercise for us to rank various songs based on responses from the bloggers. If that was the case- introduction of a poll on various categories would have done the job.
Kalyani - there are problems going democratic.. As you rightly said, all choices will surely not converge... But when its a publich discussion forum, then I think the generic blogger opinion needs to be considered...
Perhaps we can ask everyone to post their choices and then the ones that feature in most of the lists surely make it.. For the rest, we can take a qualitative decision...
What say?
Rishi's is a good idea too.. We all post our choices and have discussions based on that... I think that will be more enriching musically :)
Oh - I just used 'We' generically... Had no one in mind in particular.. But yes, the final panel has to make that call and I think Kalyani, Rishi can make that call... Definitely, the long time bloggers can contribute as well... For me, I can put up my choices, but being very new to this blog - I would rather just be a contributor for now :)
ppl can put in their opinion...lets take a call by friday or so...bcoz the diff time zones..plus weekends[rishi]etc..will b a deciding factor...i am the only jobless person...lol..will ahve to work out things fast...bcoz may not b able to devote time for this also..bcoz kids exams are looming...i ahve to study...lol..or this can work out after mid march...
lets decide soon either way...
ok, picked this article up...lets ahve a slew of comments.....
voice of India Chhote Ustaad introduces a new face into the competition as a Challenger. But the already existing kids have expressed their displeasure and are animated in their protests...
the Chhote Ustaads of Star Voice of India were found to be very grumpy on the sets. The kids, who are usually very animated and mischievous, when asked what was bothering them, expressed their displeasure about a new challenger being introduced into the show at such a late stage. In form of protest they have decided to sport black wrist bands. Will the entry of this new Challenger dampen the spirit of the kids?
We got in touch with Anupama Mandloi, Senior Creative Head, Star Plus for further details and she said, “It is natural that the kids are upset about the entry of a new singer into the competition at this stage. They feel it is quite unfair. But we look at the situation in a different perspective as we are doing this to expose them to new challenges and make them more perfect and competent.”
About the new challenger to be introduced Anupama says, “The Chhote Ustaad kids have reached a stage wherein they have gained immense popularity and audience appreciation. In future when they sing in public, they will face myriad challenges and all might not be as smooth as it is here for them. Hence we decided to give them an acid-test by introducing a new challenger. So let's see whether they can give their best shot here.”
And who will this new Challenger be? A fresh face or one of the older contestants? “Well we have had a team who went in search for singers all across India”, says Anupama. “The team selected five of the best singers who will perform before the Judges of Voice Of India. The judges will then select one challenger who will enter the contest," adds Anupama.
So as we wait with bathed breath to have a glimpse of the one 'lucky' Challenger, we hope that the Chhote Ustaads of the show wake up to the new challenge set before them, and give their best shot...
He will be pulp when he compete's with Aish and Anwesha.
I, actually, like the concept. It is right, these kids should be ready to take on anything and they will!!!
it cud b a she too...
cheers..
Goofy,
I think your analysis about the bottom three in the coming episode is correct (and also the most obvious one)
Prakriti, Aish and Soniya have their faithful and deep pocketed vote banks supporting them. Its our favorite 'bundle of talent' who will have to rough it out through multiple scary lands to get to the top two or three.
She does take it sportingly when she says, "Mujhey ek baar aur ganey ka mauka milega"
You go girl, that's the spirit.
However, if she does not land up in scary land, it would mean that whatever we did last time as a group worked and we need to keep doing more of the same till our keyboards and mice are stained with blood from voting for Answesha!
(Did I tell you guys that I had a penchant for drama?)
:)
hard, keep dramatising, otherwise goofy might shift allegiance to saregamapa lil champs...
cheers..
Oh, you mean the show where the only worthwhile singers are the judges.
LMAO!
BTW, that is an upgrade from the previous Sa Re Ga Ma Pa where even the judges could not sing!
Goofy,
Aisa kuch nahin honey waala!
Let's stop dreaming and see how we can make sure that she reaches the finals.
Suggestions?
Kalyani,
I am already a grandfather and every new day is a bonus for me.
After witnessing many a contests, I have finally found that these two little angels are a find of this decade (if not century).
I would love to see them blossom into great singers as I have witnessed
Sonu Nigam , Sunidhi Chowhan and Shreya Ghoshal.
I remember that I used to wait for the programms of these gems . Sunidhi and Shreya were little girls in pigtails and flared frocks.
Both had wonderful voice quality then. Sunidhi lost her sweetness but Shreya has maintained the sweet quality.(Shreya actually came 2nd in the saregama contest if I am not mistaken).Of course Shreya is a late entrant.
I had predicted about all the three that they will become most soughtout singers.
I do the same for these two girls.
Bless them.
Kalyani, I am going to be around for some time so don't you worry. I will be blogging.
For those who have no idea about what this Goofy guy is talking about, some enlightenment:)
Goofy is using the dialogues used by Omprakash in Sharabi where AB is trying to write poetry and he is unable to do so because his poetry does not have either - Radeef, Kafiya or Wazan!
Now you guys may ask, what are those three words?
Radeef, Kafia, Beher, Matla and Maktaa are the essential parts of a Ghazal! (I can explain what those mean, but will do so only if you guys want me to)
So what he means is that all the other participants apart from Anwesha have one or the other aspect not as tight as the rest and hence the overall impact (Wazan) becomes less.
Its a really 'filmy' way of saying a simple thing. Lekin dekhney waali baat to yeh hai ki, yahaan to sari ki sari kahani hee filmi hai!!!
:)
Hemant sir,
That was a really heartflet post. Glad to read what you wrote about Anwesha and Aishwarya. May your predictions come true about these two phenoms!
Kalyani,
All the more reason for us to read what we write before we send it out in the cyberworld. There are really senior people on this blog (jo is blog ki khushkismati hai) and any casual remark can cause serious damage to someone's sensibilities. Good job you guys in the manner you moderate this blog.
Hemant sir,
You are absolutely right. Shyreya was first runner-up in the contest "Sa Re Ga Ma- Juniors"-Sonu Nigam days. The winner was Bela Shende.
Two years later, Bela participated in the senior Sa Re Ga Ma as well and this contest also she won whereas Sanjivni came second.
And most importantly, the winner was decided by a panel of ten eminent judges- Pt Chaurasia, Pt Jasraj, Jagjit Singh, Parveen Sultana, O P Nayyar etc.
This again highlights the point that winner of such contests actually lags behind due to contractual obligations whereas the remaining ones move forward. That is why Shreya and Sanjivni got offers and established themselves in due course whereas Bela could not settle herself in the industry when her contractual obligations were over.
For those who are interested in knowing where is Bela now - well, she is singing but at Maharashtra level only with few occasional offers from Hariharan. And also sang a group song in Shahrukh starrer "Paheli".
And believe me, she was miles ahead of Shreya or Sanjivni and that is why the panel of such eminent judges had selected her.
With warm regards, sir.
Goofy,
Since you asked for it, here goes..
Radeef is the word(s) which ends the first two misra's and the second misra (sentence) of every sheyr in a Ghazal. For example, in the famous ghazal by Ghalib, radeef is the word HOTA.
Ye na thi hamari qismat ki wisale yaar HOTA
Agar aur jete rahte, yahi intezar HOTA
Tere wade pe jiye hum, to yeh jaan jhoot jana
Ki khushi se mer na jate, agar atebar HOTA
Kafiya is that common sounding word that's used before "radeef"
For example, Kafiya in the sheyr would be 'yaar', 'intezaar', 'aetbaar' or more aptly the use of the sound 'aar' which accentuates the radeef (HOTA)
Matla is the very first sheyr or the first two misra's of a ghazal where radeef is used in both misra's!!
For example the Matla of this sheyr is
Ye na thi hamari qismat ki wisale yaar HOTA
Agar aur jete rahte, yahi intezar HOTA
Maktaa is the last sheyr of a ghazal where shayar use his "takhhallus" to leave his signature on his composition.
Maktaa of this ghazal is:
Ye msaile tasuuf, ye tera bayane GHALIB!
Tujhe hum wali samajhte, jo na badai khuar hota
Beher is the most technical of these terms to explain (so to speak) as it cannot be easily depicted with examples. It is the rhythm that the ghazal follows and it needs to be the same across all the sheyrs of the ghazal. It should also accentuate or, alteast, depict correctly, the mood of the ghazal.
I also think I should translate the 'Maktaa' of this beautiful ghazal by Asad Ullah Khan:
Yeh msail-e-tasawuf, yeh tera bayaan ghalib
(Based on your descriptions of such topics filled with mysticism)
Tujhey hum wali samajhtey, jo na bada-e-khuar hota
(I would have considered you as my friend IF you were not a drunkard!)
Its extremely deep!
Ghalib had this self deprecating style which was unique and a personal favorite of mine!!!
@hemant sir,

Kalyani,
You're really a dork! :)
My post was NOT directed at you. (I'm sure you know that)
I dunno why you're going on and on and on!
I had the 'thick-skinned-virus' in mind when I said that, so please stop the ranting!
:)
i had decided not to write, but was too tempted to pitch in a post for the 100th post!!!the first one on our blog!!!great going!!!
cheers!!!
Folks,
Looks like I just got commissioned by Goofy to translate his hindi/urdu to you guys :)
What he means is 'Rummy' the card game and not 'Rumi, the poet'!
BTW, dunno how many of you are aware of a poet called Rumi but he is one of my favorites too.
Rishi,
Only you can answer this question but kya lagta hai, Kalyani kitni der tak chup rahegi?
:)
OK - This is the new promo that I saw yesterday on TV...
Ila Arun is the guest this week (not sure Friday or Saturday), and I am sure the theme in that case is going to be folk songs...
The kids seemed to wear all sorts of colorful dresses and Abhaas looked cute with a Pagri :)
About winners being contractually bound - yes thats an issue one will always face and this is stronger these days with so many shows all around... Precisely, thats why, I would probably not mind Prakriti winning the show ;).. I am sure the talent of Anwesha has already been noted by many MDs (Pritam anyway seeming mighty impressed).. and hence, if she finishes 2nd and 3rd.. she may actually make a career in playback singing faster!
rishi told me politely not to b an ass and start writing,so am back[close frens ki baat koi taal sakhtha hai??]
Dear Hard
Look!! Before I could respond to you- she is already back.
Infact, whenever she observed "Maun-vrat" people around her feel scary and pray to God to save them from "Doomsday" as her being silent is a very rare celestial event. Many planets, stars, Shani Maharaj, Rahu, Ketu etc have to really align themselves in a most difficult configuration to make such an event possible.
I hope I would be saved from the Doomsday.
lol rishi.tum bhi na...
Kalyani,
Blog mein likhi huee baaton ko, Dil pe mat lay yaar!!!
Keep blogging and moderating the way you guys are doing to make sure that we maintain the integrity of the comments.
BTW, I was reading some old blog comments, especially the one on or before 4th January 2008 and it was pretty rough out there, huh?
'The virus' was at large and infecting everyone with his vices. Glad that Goofy has found a vaccine for the virus now :)
Goofy, masterstroke!
u just got the milder ones.it was an all out war...deleted loads...some ppl never get the point...kya karen...!!
Dear Goofy
Bela Shulakhe is another lady in her 40s. She used to accompany Kishore Kumar during his shows abroad to sing duets with him. She recently appeared in "K for Kishore" on Sony TV.
But, this girl, which I referred, is "Bela Shende" and is about the same age as Shreya.
Rishi bhai,
Shende kay naam par Goofy ko hee shendi laga riye ho miyaan!!!
LOL!!
Most people believe it wud be better for Anvesha's career if she comes second or third. So do I. But still, something within me wants the best to be crowned the winner(for once). What happens after that is not in our hands, and we all know that nothing can keep Anvesha down, not even if she didn't take part in dis contest.
So I really want her to win.I have voted often for her,and she is the best.here shye is most ppl's favourite as well.I wud actually be disspaointed if aishwarya won, because she is not comparable to Anvesha.Dat girl Anamika in lil champs is better den ash, mark my words.only she can compete wid anvesha
I think she can come in the finals with Prakriti if judges save her.after all,she deserves it.lets see if the challenger can challenge ger, bcoz none of d other contestants can!!
@hard
soory,i don't agree anvesha n ash r lata n asha.der names shud not b taken in same breath. As i already said, ash is not her competitor.Only anamika among the youngster crowd can compete wid her.I really like Anvesha's voice. But lets not compare her 2 ne1.
wonder where soniya n ash get so many vfotes from?do ppl think dey r better den avesha?tough question...surely no-one in their right sense wud...
as 4 vyom,he did not deserve 2 b in top 5.
Prakriti has her loyal supporters and dey have der own rsns.but i still feel gitasri is better sen prakriti n ash.
Neelakshi,
Its my opinion, not something anyyone needs or should adhere to :)
I really like Aish's voice quality but I have also stated many a times that Anwesha is unparalleled. (I have only voted for 1 person ever for a reality show and that's Anwesha)
As regards to Anamika, I have watched several of her episodes, she has failed to impress me. In my world, even Soniya can give her a run for her money. She does not extract the same emotion in my heart.
A singer, for the most part, either touches your inner self with his/her rendition or he doesn't!!
I just don't feel it, maybe its her pronunciation, or shrill in her high tones or perhaps a mixture of all of the above. I cannot put my finger on it.
I should add here, Anwesha too comes from a predominantly non-hindi speaking family but there's not one single pronunciation that she messes up!
Its creditable!
One singer who impresses me in SaReGaMaPa is Aamir but he's notoriously inconsistent.
Anwesha and Aish (sorry, I took their name together again) are consistency personified, apart from the oodles of talent that they have.
(I just broke my own rule of NOT comparing Anwesha and Aish to anybody, not even within themselves)
@joyce,
u r wishes may come true sooner than u wish..its gonna b pure public voting either from this week or next week[i may b wrong!!!]..so,guess who the three finalists wud b..or 2...or just the winner...now we ahve to c whose purse strings are stronger..that will decide the winner...like the last show..
@hard,
uff...what a let down, u r forced to compare soniya with anamika...jokes apart...even i agree i like aamir...are we both twins separated by yrs,miles etc...we ahve such similar likes[where singers r concerned..except soniya...]..lmao
gear up...every vote for anweshas gonna count hopefully...
hats off to gaj...for screwing up another talent/reality show..where sms will win..and not talent!!!
@rishi,joyce,neelakshi, hard,goofy....
apparently, all the top 4 contestants of svoi are under contractual obligations with star and gaj....for 2 yrs...so, figure out whom u want in top 4...is that y it was easier to choose abhaas for the host of this show and not priyani as it was bandied abt in the press??
its only for two yrs...so, it shdnt matter much to these kids...as they will b busy with their academics hopefully..
so we can still hope to have anwesha as the winner!!!real talent wins for a change!!
ok guys,
the bloggers choice --best of hindi film music is ready...so freak out..lets make it as popular as this one[oops, modesty,modesty]...have fun..
wheres amit??
Amit, boley to woh pichlee galli mein jo Koliwadey ki meena thhee na, uskay saath settle ho gay.
Boley to ekdum wantaas!
Woh is galli mein nahin bhatkega ab!
Well talking about contracts, as far as my knowledge goes not contract is legally valid or binding when the other party concerned is a minor below the age of 18 yrs.
But the catch may be that there might be a contract involving the parents who represent these kids as guardians.

I tried my level best to prepare the list for best songs in 1950s. Please have a look at it. Its not any order (just sorted singerwise, even singer are also not in alpbatically ordered)
I know there are lots of other song which I left out. some of the songs should appear in different list.
all comments are welcome.

@joyce,
folk special on friday with ila arun and manoj tiwrai[???whos this??apparently some bhojpuri star!!!]
qawwali special on saturday!!!
Guyz, Ila Arun came for another reality T.V. show some time back(don't want 2 mention its name as most ppl here don't like it!)but i wasn't very impressed with her judging ability. She seemed to prefer 'performance' over 'singing'
Well I may be mistaken but I feel folk songs is something most T.v. shows don't know much abt. As in, folk songs r not just the catchy 'rang de basanti' or 'ni main samajh gayi' filmi song varieties. they also constitute the lesser-known varieties found in
India's numerous regions. For eg. In Bengal there is an evergreen folk song called 'poush toder dakh diye che'. I believe it wud b much better for the participants to sing folk songs from whichever regions dey come from.
However that may not be possible due to time-constrainst etc. but i believe that would bring out real talent. These folk songs are not easy to render. In fact, there is a certain Rajasthani folk number which is very difficult to sing.I am sure all of you have heard it.it is called 'gorbund'.
Lets see how the episode turns out!!
