I have never heard such outstanding voice like Anwesha. It was mind blowing, fantastic, fantabulous, excellent, outstanding....what not...
She is the no 1 threat to Shreya Ghoshal...in coming years...

I had lots of respect for the 3 judges. All the 3 r talented n successful in the music industry. I thought they will make sensible judgement. But they are just trying to fit in the script of Gajji. This show has no value for SARVOTTAM. everyone is getting sarvottam based on their expression/looks. no one bother about SUR. I am in the middle of the show, till now I only liked the song of pakriti. Others incl Jayant were just average. I dont feel like watching the show any more today. As siddhartha says a lot abt Anwesha, I may watch the clips tommorrow.
amit,i can understand u r frustration,the judges r mere puppets in the producers hands...do they ahve a choice.??all i can say is i agree with what siddhartha wrote and add a bit more abt anwesha....
shes absolutely a singer extraordinaire...and has been consistently flawless from episode 1....shes a rare gem,24 carat..just waiting to b mined by the music industry...it was marvellous on shreyas part to say...that she saw the future of music industry after anwesha rendered mere dholna....tho she knew that anwesha wud soon b her number 1 rival...all i can say is she has left me speechless...till today i ahve never heard a song the second time after watching it on tv....but i heard her on video today morn...and again watched the rerun on tv....i was so impressed..
altough i am very critical usually abt most contestants...i can find nothing to say abt her..except that shes exceptionally brilliant!!!i have never voted for a contestant till today...but today i will do so for this girl..bcoz she deserves it..my one vote may not make a difference,but its my way of appreciating this highly talented child...more abt the other kids later....

ok,my take on last nites show...
its time abeer,mansi and vyom are out of this show...
mansi got a super sarvottam..shes good on lower notes...but??is she that good...??i am amazed at the judges constant praise for her and abeer...like i said b4...they r being kept for the CUTE factor on this show..whichs not fair on the other kids,...
jayant sang tanha dil....i felt it was horrible..and i was surprised that shaan was impressed...or was he???i listened to the original tanha dil a few times after the show,and i can tell u..jayants rendition was horrendous..
prakriti was good in socho zara...but i hope we r not gonna c her anywhere near the final 3...
aishwaryas piyu bole...got her a atiuttam from shreya...i was surprised, bcoz the point she picked on was not the right one i thought, she made other mistakes, which cud ahve been pointed out...anyways, i may b wrong...
soniya sang chanda re..and she was marvellous...for being 9 yrs, shes a superb singer, depth, maturity,and clarity in her singing...shes very very good...
tho areeb is one of my favourites ...hes bcoming inconsistent,after the first few good songs hes been singing..
abeer sang jaanabe aali...i am surprised all the judges were highly impressed...its time he left the show and comes back 8 yrs later....
i hope we r not gonna have a repeat of the prev show..where we lose talent somewhere in the middle of the show...and the jantha gets blamed ....
the top 3 finalists shd b anwesha, soniya and aishwarya...

God...I played Anwesha's performance twice today...she is superb...
Dear Amit...I watch this show only for two girls...Anwesha and Aishwarya. There is nothing much in this show. I liked Shaan's comments though. But, I agree with Amit that the judges are not doing good...I don't like the way that they talk to the little boys and girls. Kunal is like gunda mawali...He should not use "tu". "aap" should be used all the time for all contestants. Check out SRGMP. Even though they are little but that's the etiquette.
But, Gajendra Singh has done a wonderful job to find Anwesha and Aishwarya. If he makes money...that will be just because of those two girls.
Amit - please don't miss the last performance...otherwise you will miss a lot...
I am so glad to find this blog. I was desperately searching for "Chotte Ustad" in u-tube but cud hardly find the full show. But thanks for this as i dont get Indian channels.
I watch this show regualrly through your blog. I was amazed with Anwesha's performance. I like Sonia too. Aishwarya is good but sometimes i feel she is hyped up more by the judges. Vyom was my fav in the beginning but nt now. I feel Abeer very cute, but there are better talents than him.
I can't wait for the next show.

Anwesha left me speechless. I am yet to recover from the amazing sweetness and perfection she has rendered in all her songs. Yesterday was the pinnacle performance.
She was so good that I think Shreya repeated the same song to show that she was better than Anwesha, I could see jelousy in her act.
Shreya....watch out. Anwesha is going to give you a run for the money.
Aishvarya was also very good. Both these girls are find of the decade.
Prakirti has sweet voice but she needs more training.
Soniya no doubt has a ton of talent but her voice quality is very husky and over the coming three or four years, it is going to thicken a lot.
She would better take to Folk, Thumri singing.
I am disappointed with boys squad.
Let's see what comes next.

Wow! Its amazing to see how much your views match what I thought of yesterday's episode.
I have a feeling that Anwesha can inherit Lataji's throne, if given the right direction and encouragement!!!

Soniya, as someone else commented, will be in the league of Jaspinder Narula, a great singer but suited only to a few type of songs.
Aish is awesome. She is also such a nice girl, almost to the point of appearing unreal!
Together, these three are the best singers across the two kids programmes. Add Rohan and Aamir to the mix (from SRGMP) and we have 5 'taiyyar' singers
I wanted to add one thing to the discussion though, the 'subhan allah' alaap by Abhas was mind boggling!!! That guy was the star of the SVOI show. He sings even the most difficult songs with effortless ease. He will be a singer of Sonu's calibre, in a few years!!!!

Aishwarya's y'day performance was not upto the mark. But I dont think she sang such bad to get Atiuttam from Shreya, when she sarvottam to other craps. Aiswarya is most cnsitent among all. As kalyani, I have also voted for Anwesha for y'day performance.
In my view, till y'day performance, its
aishwarya/ anwesha/Pakriti/soniya
I know most of you will be surprised by pakriti name. She has good voice, but she a bit inconsistent. Another factor- Darjeeling. I have noticed the voting power of Darjeeling in Indian Idol (prashant tamang). They have outclassed everybody.
(soniya is a bit weak as compared to others)
But its a long run, the stage is quite wide open. The person with large public support will win.
Its becoming all girl show. Gear up guys, where r all the boys.
Till now none of the girls have won talent hunt, despite few good singers, whether its svoi/indian idol/saregamapa.
Only sanchita managed it in last saregamapa lil champ.
I wish either of the aforesaid 4 girls should win, as they r the best till now.
In saregamapa- its quite unclear, who is going to win.
Tanmay- choose easy song n perform well
vasundhara- another sympathy candidate.
Anamika- good singer but problem in pronounciation
Aamir-sing good but forgets lyrics quite often. (trying to get sympathy votes too by focussing economic condition)
Rohan-sweet voice, But most of the time sing punjabi somg only.

i could not watch the programmes aired on fri and sat due to my tour programme.
indeed i watched tham on sunday and my good ness!Anwesha is ,i feel becoming the numero uno of this chhote ustaad.I really challenge any one of the finalists of svoi seniors,held lasy year could have even think of attempting the song by her on sat day!.super.
sonia has to take her base little more higher as she she is not good while singing lower notes.
judges are slowly being controlled by gajender .foe even stupid singing and bad sur,they give sarvotham.
boys are not good compared to girls.
Jayanth has spoiled one of the sweetest song sung my lovely Shaan.

I am still undecided if I like the way comments pop-up in a small little window. I liked how Shashi's blog had the comments inline below the videos. Also the way his blog shows video is also super intuitive.
Maybe a few of those tweaks will make this blog even better.

@hemant...its ok if the boys squad dont do well...in this show...as i had written earlier in another post...boys mature later.so we shd b seeing areeb..and jayant doing very well in 4 yrs.......bcoz males reach the adult pitch only around 16 yrs....
in my opinion, soniyas very good...hers may not b typical play back voice ..but it is a voice i wud die for anyday!!!!

Shashi's earlier blog was similar to ours. We started our own as he failed to filter / delete cheap messages timely. There also a smaller window used to pop up.
However, if you are uncomfortable with the smaller window- then instead of clicking on the "messages" link just click on the main title of the thread. Then, no smaller window will appear and messages will be in line with the main thread and videos.
yes kalyani,I do agree sonias base is good.what i felt was if she could increase a little bit,she can improvise .she is my favourite.i want het to come very close to aiswarya and anwesha.i do not want her to be voted out.
aye mere watan ke logon,just the mere thought of this song produces tears in my eyes..what lyrics, what music..and lataji...the best song of her life.... prob ours too, as listeners!!!!there are innumerable songs pre 70s which can b termed soul stirring...now.. songs rendered by toshi, abhaas singing naina thag lenge[and all his renderings in voi],soniyas chanda re, anweshas[all performances]esp,amee je tomar[mere dholna]..can b termed the best..in recent times!!
i find rahat fateh ali khan sahebs renditions better than nusrat fateh ali khan sahebs!!!hope i ahvent started a war...!!!

I think its more to do with the voice quality than anything else. Rahat's voice is soothing (just like his name) and that is why you like him more. Nusrat miyaan was a qawwal par excellence. Even Rahat would never dare to compare himself to Nusrat!
Our dear Anu Malik has made a lot of money copying NFAK's qawwali's and converting them to hindi film songs :)
Unfortunately Nusrat sahaab became famous in India with a song that caught everyone's fancy due to Lisa Ray's!!!
yes, i agree hard, nusrat was a qawwal par excellence as u said...but his voice quality was pathetic, was it bcoz of his problems related to his respiratory system, i wonder....yup, rahats voice is soothing...and i will leave it at this point!!!
I somehow don’t agree with the concept with the program. Just as a common viewer I am sharing my view.
I think it’ll be good for the program and mr Gajendra Singh, the pioneer of these kind of shows in the Indian Television.
Please decide wheather you want make it a reality show or a talent hunt show. They cannot be mixed.
You have idnetified 10 contestants. They should be equally talanted and then Audience has to judge who’s there favourite. Judges may share there comments but would have nothing to do with the judgement.
Else, you just make this a telent hunt show. Where judges will make the final deceision. Remember non-SMS days in saregamapa. The program is perhaps one of the best program of all time. This STAT VOI is not becoming even the shadow of it.
Whenever some good singer get less votes, judges and the anchor start abusing the audience. You have to take this as it is if you ask audience to cast vote.
Mr Singh, Please forget making a reality show and just make it a talent hunt. (Don’t know the impact on you sposors and the support from Mobile companie) but that way, you can make this program far more intersting.
