repost from prev thread

alka is back in the show

anwesha sang "AAO NA" well. no wonder she got all sarvottam n a hug and sarvottamest from alka. But m sorry to say that she has not become CHALAK yet. not a popular one as compared to others.

prakriti sang "Mera naam chin chin chu". Atiuttam from Shreya N sarvottam from others.

Jayant sang "Paisa ye Paisa". not his number. alka did not like it. so ask him to sang another song. he sang Pal Pal dil ke paas. But then also it did not impress alka. she gave atiuttam. kunal-uttam, shreya-atiuttam, pritam-atiuttam.
Another show which shows he is good in ghazal only.

was waiting for aish performance. as the promo shows she impressed alka quite a lot

Aish sang raat akeli hai. she sang really well. all sarvottam n chain from alka. She revives the talent competition with anwesha. I wont comment on votes. But I love to final bet anwesha n aishwarya. Both of them can sing any type of song.

Vyom sang jaane ja dhondta phir raha. I love this song quite a lot. he sang quite good. his best. all sarvottam. He is improving. Anwesha provide the female voice in between. I wish she could sing asha's part from the song in the stage.

Areeb sand Dard e Dil. he sang good. But He has throat problem. Poor guy. I love his singing, he has good potential but his throat is not supporting him to that extant. But pritam was bit harsh on him. alka-atiuttam, pritam/shreya/kunal-uttam.

soniya sang solah baras ki. she too have some stomach problem. But then also she sang good. Could have been a better performance, as it was her genre song. alka/kunal-atiuttam, shreya/pritam-sarvottam.

as per todays performance (if we keep aside physical problems of soniya n areeb)
1-aishwarya
2-anwesha
3-vyom
4-prakriti
5-soniya
6-jayant
7-areeb

as kalyani, I did not like the episode that much. may be wrong selection of songs.

Repost

Please note Darjiling is not a part of north-east. It belong to the state of west bengal. (demanding separate gorkhaland). I dont know why some people always comment without verifying the fact. I wont rectify that person.

But neelakshi I want to rectify ur comments. In II3, Emon(bengali) n Prashant (nepali) are from west bengal and amit (bengali) from Meghalaya. Meghalaya is the state from North East. In the end the Nepali guy from Darjiling(WB) won the title.

This time also prakriti is not from northeast.

I wont comment on the mainstream issue, as this is not a political forum. here we are to enjoy music.

Only music please.

@amit, thank u...for the posts..

Kalyani said...

today , i am not gonna write abt music, only criticise the show!!!
alkaji gave her gold chain to aishwarya, after the break, it was back aroung her neck, after a couple of songs it disappeared..and wasntt here till the end of the show!!! poor, poor editing!!buck up guys!!!

if anyone noticed, right from the beginning, kunal always had good words and positive to say to mansi and abeer,..once they were eliminated, u cud see him withdraw mentally,i dunno how to explain it, but his body language was totally abruptly cut off from the kids...i thought i was mistaken with mansi, it was repeated with abeer..!!!

amit said...

@kalyani

There are so many gr8 songs in 60-70s. why the kids ran out of songs. n select some of the not so famous song.

we can start discussing for famous during 60-70s. I will wait for HARD's choices. He makes really good selection.

its time shreyas hairstyle was changed back to normal..she looks a sight... scary land??lol.. and her dress designer also has to buck up..she looks awful in most of the episodes..y cant we ahve 2 well dressed male judges...they look unkempt and it feels they ahve just rolled off their beds onto their chairs in the studio...!!!

Kalyani said...

i know amit...i was also very very disappointed...thats y decided not to write abt todays episode....
somehow, i feel quite disconnected with the show since yest...i have a hollow feeling we r gonna c jayant, prakriti in the finals...and the mazaa is already gone from the show for me..!!!

amit said...

poor gajji, I hope he can conduct another ghazal episode, to bring jayant in the limelight. If its a dance numbers, then it will be very tough for him to get good remarks. But taking into consideration regional n sympathy voting we may have final between prakriti n jayant

Do you have any information, about the percentage of votes all the participants are getting.

But if the same pattern persists. it will be tough for prakriti to win if anwesha/aish/soniya comes to the final. It will be tough for her for those 3 in judges choice round. In final, judges should ask participants to sing all variety of song n then judge.
Supporters of prakriti, please vote for the guys too. If you have guys in the final against prakriti, then only she has sure shot chance of winning the title. Otherwise your nepali voting magic cant work in this format. By chance if any girl (i will rank soniya better than prakriti) comes in the final, then just pray to the GOD to make them sick.

Kalyani said...

thanks amit,u made me laff at u r comments, u r hilarious!!gosh, after seeing this depressing episode..u r comments were good!!
nope i have no idea abt the no of votes polled.i am also curious to know not the percentage...i want to know if this show is getting votes in thousands or lakhs..

Kalyani ur comments on the judges was too gud. I am quoting it again:

"its time shreyas hairstyle was changed back to normal..she looks a sight... scary land??lol.. and her dress designer also has to buck up..she looks awful in most of the episodes..y cant we ahve 2 well dressed male judges...they look unkempt and it feels they ahve just rolled off their beds onto their chairs in the studio...!!!"

hahaha...can't control myself. Thats very true. I never posted my comments on them thinking maybe it mite sound offensive. But the way they dress up is too bad. Shreya always wears funny dresses. Some shiny blouses and her hair yesterday..ooops...and pritam comparing her with Beyonce!!! Why can't they dress up decently and come. The first show also kunal was in some funny shirt and trousers. I haven't watched today's episode yet. After watching yesterday's i don't have any eagerness to watch today's episode. I just hope that at least anwesha and aish stays till the end. But anyway i'll just vote for them with the hope that every vote counts.

Hard said...

Guys,
Please stop talking about the gory details of the show. Isn't it enuff that we have to watch the wardrobe malfunction in every episode??
:)
Anyways, can someone please talk about the performances of Aish and Anwesha and not about Prakriti and Jayant. I have written them off. They are , no doubt, good but the two girls are too classy to compare.
I loved Alka's funny description 'Sarvottamest'. Can't wait for the episode to air..

is the online voting is working?

Hard said...

Amit,
Its impossible to come up with ten best songs from the 70s. The list is simply too huge to restrict it to 10!!
Also due to the fact that era 60s and 70s was the golden era of music, so even more difficult to come up with a top ten really.
RD composed music for 50+ films where each song was a gem (you can tell I am his fan). Kishore was at his best. Gulzar started his career in 1971 with Mere-Apne and he and RD composed some phenomenal songs, something that just got better with every passing decade (till RD was alive).
I will list songs which had both RD and Gulzar and that would be a pretty exhaustive list by itself.

Parichay (1972)
Musafir hoon yaaron
Beeti na bitayi raina
SaRe kay SaRe gama ko lay kar

Aandhi (1975)
Is mod say jaatey hain
Tum aa gaye ho
Tere bina zindagi say

Khushboo (1975)
Do nainon mein aansoo bhare hain
O majhi re
Bechara dil kya kare

Kinara (1977)
Naam ghum jayega
Mithey bol boley
Jane kya sochkar nahin guzra

Kitaab (1977)
Dhanno ki aakhon mein

So just these 4 movies make for 10 songs, then there were movies by RD and Gulzar, done separately, which had fantastic music...will include in the next few posts or the post will become really big...keep reading :)

Nikkie Anand said...

Kalyani u have 2 part 1s. The 2nd part 1 is working.

Kalyani said...

thank u guys.......for putting up with my loooooog effort to upload the videos...i think they are all working now...can someone pl check and let me know..b4 i crash for the nite?

Hard said...

Movies by RD in 70 which had every song noteworthy. If someone is interested (or if a lot of people are interested) I can list all the songs too. But you can see that these music can account for atleast 100+ great songs!!!!

Gol Maal (1979)
Jhoota Kahin Ka (1979)
The Great Gambler (1979)
Kasme Vaade (1978)
Ghar (1978)
Shalimar (1978)
Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin (1977)
Mukti (1977)
Balika Badhu (1976)
Sholay (1975)
Deewaar (1975)
Khel Khel Mein (1975)
Aap Ki Kasam (1974)
Zehreela Insaan (1974)
Namak Haraam (1973)
Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973)
Joshila (1973)
Anamika (1973)
Heera Panna (1973)
Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973)
Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972)
Jawani Diwani (1972)
Bombay to Goa (1972)
Apna Desh (1972)
Do Chor (1972)
Mere Jeevan Saathi (1972)
Seeta Aur Geeta (1972)
Haré Raama Haré Krishna (1971)
Amar Prem (1971)
Buddha Mil Gaya (1971)
Caravan (1971)
Paraya Dhan (1971)
Kati Patang (1970)

Music by Gulzar in 70s having great music..

Meera (1979)
Mausam (1975)
Koshish (1972)
Mere Apne (1971)

I will also try and isolate some songs from these movies, no top 10 or 20 though :)

Kalyani said...

ok guys...i guess, i am done with the videos!! enjoy them..c u tomoro...have fun till then..!!!

Hard said...

There was Raj Kapoor's movies too with music by Laxmi-Pyare. All chartbusters!
1. Mera naam joker 1970
2. Bobby (1973)
3. Satyam Shivam Sundram (1978)
SD with movies in 70s such as

Chupke Chupke (1975)
Mili (1975)
Abhimaan (1973)
Chhupa Rustam (1973)
Phagun (1973)
Anuraag (1972)
Tere Mere Sapne (1971)
Gambler (1971)
Sharmeelee (1971)
Prem Pujari (1970)

Phew, what a breadth of music to choose from. I figure choosing seven songs to sing would not have been that difficult :)

I would like to forget this episode except for Aish and Anwesha's performances.
Amit.... we know our geography well...infact very well.
Prakirti's voting comes from only one section of people like in the case of Asmeet and Debojeet and Tamang etc.
What we are looking for is an all India liked performer/singer.

Aishwarya and Anwesha - there is nothing else in this show. Frankly I just wait for those two girls. Once they are done, I don't watch anything else. Before Aish's performance, I was awfully bored by junk cheap drama by Pritam, Kunal, Shreya and Abhas. What is this!!! This is stupid mimicry of Dharmendra and other filmstars. This is totally stupid. I hated Shreya most. She acts too much. She is a good singer and she should just sing well, she does not need to come to acting.

Mr. gajendra Singh - stop this nonsence. Just concentrate on singing. Learn from SRGMP.

Abhash - I thought you would do fine, but Aditya Narayan is doing much much better than you. Don't try too much, be relaxed and descent.

Alka Yagnik was right that this time girls are getting more votes and might win. Atleast girl will finally win in kids show. Though Jayant & Vyom are dark horses. But I think Anvesha and Aishwarya will be the finalists.

But there r full chances of Prakriti becoming another Prashant Tamang.
Amit, darjeeling is in North-east, though in the state of West bengal. Nepali nationalist have been demanding greater nepal including Gorkhaland and Sikkim. Sikkim is in north-east, one of the 7 sister states.
Gorkhas are in a way North-East people only, it is known as the Oriental race. This race starts from North-East India and goes upto China, Japan, Thailand etc.

jatin said...

Little Champs episode was better yesterday. Bubbly Ayesha Takia and Aarshad warsi made the show special. Rohanpreet got A+ from both judges sonu & sudesh. But the show-stealer is the little cute Vaishali - who speaks a little too much. She is the main reason for that show's popularity.

jatin said...

Hemant/Amit,

Ishmeet's comparison with Prashant Tamang is a silly parallel. Ishmeet had a sweet, melodious voice and he sings quite well, where as Prashant Tamang's singing is pathetic to say the least.

Ishmeet got votes from all-over India, even in Harshit's home state UP , he got 32% votes. So you cannot label him as a regional winner.

Where as Prashant Tamang and his rival Amit Paul were both from north-east, so it was a regional battle where people from rest of India dint even bother to vote.

Kalyani said...

for the ignoramus on the blog, the seven sister states in india are
arunachal pradesh,
nagaland
manipur
mizoram
tripura
meghalaya

kindly check u r facts...b4 u talk thru u r head!!
sikkim and bhutan are no where related to the sister states!!
and darjeeling is very much a part of india and west bengal state!!!

my request to bloggers[incl myself]...lets not make this into a political forum and pl refrain from bringing other show winners as far as possible into this!!!
we wanted to make this blog different, thats why we did not add even the surname after the kids names[in case u didnt notice!!!]...

kindly help us in this regard!!
otherwise , may ahve to turn into a censor board!!!

i picked this up from another site...a very telling post..so wanted to post it here...!!

Usually i watch only the singers closely as that is what a singing competion should deserve ....and not the nakras and nautankis of the judges or host.....but unnaturally i watched the entire retro episode fully.

i noticed a few things that may not matter much but some observations...

1.alkaji refused to address our 3 judjes as judges when she entered but called them artists(correct me if i am wrong)

2.she did not vibe with sweet shreya at all..she has that hair partition wall...maybe that's the reason

3.she seemed insecure to me overall ..she does not have to remind aabhas now and again that she was his mentor or they(judges) r all new and she is the senior in the sets

4.if she could not get up and go the stage for anu's melodious number..she went and actually presented a chain to aish......

well, maybe some alka fans may feel i am over imagining but i always feel alka may be a super singer but a very ordinary human being...

jatin said...

Kalyani ji,

Thanks for the info. But Sikkim is very much a part of India, where as Bhutan is an independent country.
We were not making this a political forum, but just discussiong about Indian geography a little bit. Sikkim may not be among the 7 sisters, though I doubt the information on Wikepedia, but it is certainly in the North-east. So is Darjelling.

Kalyani, politics is part of every field in India whether music, dance, films, cricket or anyother thing. So you really cannot escape politics.
A TV actress remarked that there is more politics in the TV industry than in Parliament. Her statement explains every thing.

jatin said...

Yesterday I was watching Gajji's interview on a TV Channel. He said just before the finals Ishmeet walked upto him and said he is receiving sms of many people saying that the show results have been fixed in favour of harshit and finals r a mere formality. Gajji assured Ishmeet that there is no such thing and he should concentrate on singing well in the finals.
Further he said, when Ishmeet won everybody started saying that show is fixed in favour of Ishmeet.
So people spread false rumours whereas counting of votes was done in the most fair manner. Even Harshit was satisfied with the procedure of counting.
Hence the selection of VOI winner was quite fair.

jatin said...

I could just watch Vyom and Sonia sing in Chotte Ustaad yesterday as I was watching the other show. I must credit Sonia for her guts and she sang so well inspite of the pain she was going through. This young girl is a real brave heart.

Today, I cast one vote each for all contestants except Areeb, whom I want to be eliminated as soon as possible.
While voting, I remembered old times when i used to vote for Ishmeet. Good old days!

That time was amazing. No show caught my imagination so much as Voice of India because of Ishmeet.

Kalyani said...

Kalyani ji,

I know there are many other blogs, but I love to write in your blog. It is attachement I have for the 3 moderators of this blog, that makes me write here again and again.

Kalyaniji, censorship kills creative freedom. Freedom of thought is very essential for meaningful discussion in any blog.

jatin said...

Kalyani,

Yes you are right about Alkaji. She did not gel well with Shreya, simply because both are fierce competitors. She was unhappy even when Sunidhi chauhan was invited in a show of VOI.Shreya and Sunidhi have left Alkaji behind in playback singing, so that is reason enough for Alkaji to feel insecure.

But I respect Alkaji for one thing, she was the only judge of VOI who did not humiliate Ishmeet.
She never even used harsh language against the innocent boy. She even stood by him in his final moment of victory.
In view of the above, I dont think she is too bad a human being.

Neelakshi said...

Ok,sorry ppl but i have some points 2 make here.
1.Amit thank u 4 the information abt darjeeling not being a part of nrth-east.dat's true.I made a mistake i was referring to the north-east ppl as a community and not so much a regional issue.Amit Paul by the way was a Bengali living in north-east and prashant Tamang a north-east community person living in west Bengal.we all know who the better singer was and who won.The point here is not the region but the community. Both Emon chaterjee a bengali living in West B

Neelakshi said...

Bengal and amit were better singers den Prashnat tamang.so genuine msuic lovers will know that Emon got votes from all over the country and the other two had regional votes only.Anyway,Emon was the best singer on dat ssn n deserved 2 win.

2.as per the episode yest,I am sorry 2 say I did not like alka n aishwarya's behaviour.Alka cud not get up 2 bless that bundle of natural talent, anvesha nor did she even smile at sweet shreya. But bcoz aishwaryua fitted into that nasal soft singing which alka does-ash's voice quality is similiar 2 alka-- so she went n gave her a chain.Ash was right when she said she was not dat gud yest.Yet she cried n made a fuss n dat was a clewar symptom she is 'clever' n wants sypathy votes.they were not geunine tears n i feel dat girl knows anvesha is far better den her.sad!!

3.acc 2 me,anvesha n prakriti will b in finals.i think all d rest will b eliminated by judges b4 nvesha. I know 4 a fact that shreya likes anvesha more den ash,n was a bit miffed by alka's exaggeration. She will notlet anvesha b elkiminated.Nor will Pritam hopefully. So acc 2 me final 4 will b anvesha, ash, prakriti n someone else(jayant, sonia) final 3 will b anvesha, ash n prakriti.prakriti will eventually win but i feel judges shud n will choose anvesha over ash when dey both cum in bottom 2.HOPEFULLY dat will happen

4.the judges were 2 harsh on areeb n 2 gud 2 vyom.woder why:/mayb they shud eliminate him instead of insulting him.He is demotivated, poor child, only bcoz he keeps coming 2 scary land.anone wud,n a 12 yr old child!! they only have saved him,n now dey try 2 act patronsisng, very bad

Ok we shall not discuss previous contestants here.but i want 2 add something kalyani-u cannot b apolitical.when politics is not just abt political parties, but a way of critically approaching things.u cannot deny that politics is making itself felt in every sphere of life even music.so wots d harm in discussing n analzing? being apolitical is a myth in today's highly polarized world,n even i wish 4 an utopia where we judge only by neutral things, but its impossible.and u can see the way poliotics is maing itself felt!!wot i mean is even judges r aware that these shows r not above gender, region etc.i hope i make myself clear anyway this is my view as i am a theory student n this is what we have learnt i lit. theory--nothing is apolitical.being apolitical is trying 2 cocoon onself away from harsh realities.

secondly i like 2 judge by talent alone, not thse factors.but i have realized that music cannot b seen in a vacuum.it is as much a product of society as nething else.
ok explain why wud not d most talented singer anvesha win?why wud alka give a chain 2 ash n not 2 anvesha?again bcoz nothing is neutral-a neutral person knows who is best. But bcoz alka identified wid ash's nasal quality, she chose her.dat is again a proof nothing is apoltical

Kalyani said...

yu, neelakshi, nothing is apolitical..but, let me tell u..once we descend down to various issues, the essence of the blog waters down...its my opinion...!!! prob my co owners may ahve different views..its upto them...thanks for u opinion!!!

There is no comparison b/w anvesha n ash.anvesha is FAR better. But again perhaps we shud not 4get ash is from a region which is highly rich n money-savvy.north-east community is trying 2 assert its presence.that leaves poor anvesha, bengali in a world where laready bengalis r at the top in every field, why wud dey want 2 assert their presence again n again?identy is an imp. fact here

also let me tell u benglis can b at the top but dey r not money-savvy.compare rani mukherjee n konkana sen sharma wid kareena kapoor.dey r better actors, but rani commands a lower price den kareena.bcoz bengalis believe in gandhi's mantra of simple living n high thinking.dat is d rsn poor anvesha loses out despute beind best.an innocent 14 yr old cannot escape from these harsh politics.dats d truth,n i feel like crying 4 her,she is so good,so naive n so unpretentious.
mayb she shud a few tears 2 b noticed/ask 4 sympathy votes like ash n jayant

again d politics thing is subjective.lets leave it 2 individuals.
as 4 music lovers,i wud like 2 ask everyone 2 compare voice qualities of ash n anvesha.anvesha has a strong, sweet, melodious voice.in d lmould of shreya, who never goes nasal.when she reaches high notes,it sounds effortless whereas being a singer,i lnow how diff. it is
as 4 voice quality,i feel ash's is not dat gr8.it has a nasal tendency.that is undesriable in singers.even alka yagnik has it,n i don't know how she made it this far

Kalyani and rest,
As a long time blogger on this blog, I feel almost like an englishman in New York when I read the blog today. (pardon the cheesy metaphor)
If you read earlier blog posts, they were about music, Chhote Ustaad, RD Burman, devotional music, Aish and Anwesha and an occasional post about Toshi's unfortunate incident.
Today, it sounds more about North East politics, Ishmeet Singh's trivia (his trivia might be the subject of a new blog 10 years from now but right now he is just a participant in SVOI who pipped many a rightly deserving participants to win the crown)
I also have to say that we are lucky to see two of the finest talents turning into great singers on this platform. I have said it earlier and will say it again, these two girls are like Lataji and Ashaji. Their songs yesterday Aao Na and Raat akeli hai can be made into CDs and distributed without people noticing the perceptible difference between the original songs. Unfortunately, no one has mentiond it!
I am particularly miffed at the mention of Indian Idol here. Indian Idol should never be compared to any music show cause that's a showbiz show (in India) SRGMP and now SVOI kicks its butt any time of the day!!!!
Anyways, we should also respect the founders of this blog, Kalyani, Rishi and Antar and stick to the very reason they started this blog.
These are my 2 cents and I will follow the blog for sometime and see if it remains true to its subject or veers off in a tangent making it like just any other blog out there.

Kalyani, i feel anvesha should win.she's a very good singer. but do you think she is too mild and naive? do you think she should resort to sypmpathy appeal?otherwise why is she not getting votes?
sorry to say, aishwarya is nothing great.this is only my opinion,so i'm sorry if i sound offensive. But over-hype always turns me off.same happened with harshit in VOI(sorry, but this is last mention, i promise!1)
it seems like gajji's fave is ash. when i was watcjing the show,he kept showing trailers of her.and dat 'piyu bole' was not dat gr8.why is soniya not hyped? for a nine yr old,she is talented no end n has a league of her own.
sorry, but i disagree wid constant comparisons of ash n anvesha.it is merely degenrating anvesha. We cannot compare her with anyone else

Kalyani said...

hhmmm.........neelakshi...yup,anwesha shd win!!but will she??there r so many factors playing a role, bcoz this is a reality show and not a talent show...like meri awaz suno in 1996 was!!!
all i can say is all these reality shows are scripted/edited and its a producers show all the way!!!

Kalyani said...

how do we know who is getting how many votes??do they announce the no of votes polled...in each episode??we ahve to take the anchors word for it[who parrots whats scripted]...and even if they do announce the number of votes polled...how can u b sure its the truth??
after reading abt ashoka with my daughter just now, all i can say is enjoy the songs, talented kids, cry, laff...and..talent always triumphs in the long run...gosh, i feel very calm and cool now...!!!

Anwesha should definitely win. She is the best among the lot. Even though Aish is very bubbly and has a good stage apperance, classical calibre of Anwesha is beyond comparison. She is one singer which can touch your heart.

Another singer whom i felt sings from heart and cud really make you feel the song is Amanat Ali ( Sorry Kalyani! I am bringing some other topic other than svoi chotte ustad). I am surprise nobody discussed abt Amanat Ali.

I have few clips for all music lovers

Folks,
Where is all this hatred for Aish coming from? I agree that I was a little disappointed too at the behavior of Alka yesterday but that does not mean that we start doubting the talent of Aishwarya. She is a great singer, its her bad luck that she is pitted against a singer of Anwesha's calibre.
Soniya is good but please do not mention her name in the same breadth as these two kids.
Anwesha too has come from SRGMP Bangla (just like Anik Dhar) so she too has some exposure. She is overall less emotive and likes to do all the talking through her singing and boy we all know that she rocks!
Let's enjoy these two kids. They are both extremely talented (and good friends)
I remember reading somewhere that just because it stands next to the Everest, Kanchenjunga does not lose any of its charm or glory.

@hard,
sorry,u picked up the wrong vibes from my posts..i do not hate aishwarya!!! shes immensely talented, she came into the show with more things going in her favour, rather than anwesha...but, anwesha, has just one show behind her[zee bangla..i had read abt it b4..].whereas aish has too many, shes a child prodigy...but, we ahve to accept that anwesha is way miles ahead of her in this show!!!
she has been consistent...in all her songs, even if her song selections ahvent been popular ones, shes topped them and brought a freshness to them!!!
i didnt want to bring this up in my prev posts, tho i had felt the same...since it came up,i put in my pennys worth!!

@ all
Hey!! Please do not say sorry for making occasional references of the singers / participants from other present / past programmes.

@ Neelakshi
You are more than welcome to refer the contestants of other music shows to buttress your point here. Please don't be apologetic for giving the example of Harshit here- We agree with you that he also was over-hyped. And, probably the final was held between two weakest contestants who , in my sole opinion (others may differ, I respect their opinion) should have been more than happy to be at 11th and 12th ranking.

@ Nikkie
Same as above for you too- You don't have to be apologetic for making the reference of Amanat Ali. We understand what you wanted to convey by citing his example.

@ Goofy
Come on man!! You could have mentioned names of the contestants you liked in the previous show. It's OK with us.

What Kalyani wanted to say was something different. We have seen the level and language of discussion going drastically down in the earlier blog when some of 'his' (you can guess whom I am referring) friends used unprintable language whenever someone begged to differ (in terms of who the best singer was in the previous VOI). That is why she requested to largely stick (not always) to Chhote Ustaads with occasional reference of other programme's participants to buttress one's point. I must reiterate at this point- it is NOT a crime to bring the names of any participant from other programmes occasionally. Please do not apologise for this.

Normally, everyone makes friends when his/her thinking matches with the other person and we do not care whom he or she likes as musician / sport person / film personality etc. What we mainly see while making a friend is that he/she should be decent, polite, and intelligent.

But some people make friends on the basis of commonality of favourite singer between them - they do not see what language his so-called friends use, whether they are decent enough etc. Liking a particular singer is the sole criterion for them to make friends.

I hope this brings peace here and we hope we would see many more posts sharing your valuable views.

With Regards

Goofy,
I share you excitement at the prospect of seeing Jatin's pics. I too am enamoured by his personality. He's 'da mann' as you say! :)
Well, I 'used' to dislike Soniya and the reasons were articulated in one of the earlier blog posts, you might wanna read that post to savour my views! Nikkie corrected me and I realized that I was being an unreasonable and judgemental jerk. I did apologize for ruffling some feathers in my ignonimity.
Having said that, I do stand by my statement of Soniya being not in the same league as Aish and Anwesha. She might be all of 10 years old but I am not sure if I will have the pleasure to watch her on such a big stage ever again and hence my views on current state of affairs!!
I think Anwesha's greatness is also accentuated by the quality of opposition provided by Aish and Soniya (and now Vyom too). They make us cherish her talent by being really good, but falling a wee bit short of the magician that she is.
I was reading a lot of posts in this blog related to Aish and her not being a worthy ally of Anwesha's which my limited IQ parsed as negative and thus I commented to stop that unnecessary thread. We have enough to talk about our fav. Anwesha's positives to be wasting time on anyone else's alleged negatives.
Amit,
dude where are you? You asked me to create a top 10 list of 70s and I have been working towards it with no inputs from you, will you wake up and start writing again? :)

mohankristo said...

i like the comments posted by amit regarding the performence by children.lovely comments.exactly what i wanted to write.
vyom has definitely improved in singing .his selection of songs has played a very important part according to me combined with his own hard work.his voice quqlity has improved.
aiswarya and anwesha are like two pillers of this prigramme,as MR Hard said,if these two are gone early this will become another shit like the seniors finals were two undeserving men came to the finals.
aiswarya and anwesha are both equals in voice quality and execution of difficult songs with ease.they both can qualify as professionals.
Areeb does not have a good voice and it is alwaye sore when he goes oon high notes.shount b eliminated soon.
sonia can b excused as she was not well.but even then she was much better than jayanth.
jayanth is promoted by gaender with out any reason.there is a blind girl singing in lil champs named vasundhara.she is not promoted by the producers of the programme.
Nothing to be mentioned abt other singers .
KALYANI WAS RIGHT IN ATTACKING THE JUDGES.SUDDENLY PRITAM CANNOT COMMENT ABT AREEB LIKE THAT.
AND JATIN WAS NOT RIGHT IN TALKING ABT ISHMIT AGAIN AND AGAIN AS THE SINGER HE REPRESENTS IS BY FAR INFERIOR TO MANY OF THIS KIDS
CHEERS

Goofy,
I was planning to do just that. I was thinking of making two lists, one of Solos and one of Duets. As you mentioned and as I have mentioned many a times, its just impossible to come up with a top 10 list for the golden era. I will do a top 20 list for each of 60s, 70s and 80s. That was the last decade before hindi music film went into hibernation and all that we were left with were soundtracks of movies like tohfa and mawali!!
Watch this space for my recommendations and I can assure you that Kalyani and Rishi will be fine with having such a list on this blog!!!
:)

Kalyani said...

tohfa and mawali...lol.. good one!!!
come on guys, just bcoz we made a few remarks abt how we want this blog to run, doesnt mean every post has to b peppered with whether we wud approve or not..!!! we r pretty easy going..till a push comes to a shove point is reached!!

Did you guys notice that the medley of songs sung to kickoff the episode on 19th was comprised of all songs RD?
I was elated to hear those timeless melodies again.
Trivia: RD, Nasir Hussain and Majrooh Sultanpuri created music through the start of 80s that was unparalleled. Teesri Manzil, Caravan, Yaadon ki baraat and Hum kisi say kum nahin are soundtracks that will be popular even when none of us will be around.
Two of Ashaji's gems come from YKB and HKSKN namely...Chura Liya and Yeh ladka hai allah...
Wouldn't it be just mindblowing to hear Anwesha and Aish croon these songs some day on SVOI?

@Rishi
Thanks for clarifying.Even I wanted to be sure whether its o.k. 2 refer to sum previous contestant only to elaborate my point. The rsn I compared Ash n Harshit was not bcoz ash is as deficient in talent as harshit-n she is def. not an undeserving finalist!! exaclty my point-FINALIST is d word, not winner.we all know who d winner shud b. and the similiarity b/w harshit n her is only over-hype.In d earlier version,I felt Abhilasha n abhas were d best n dey eneded up winning d jury award.so dat was gr8.but u r right abt the 2 finalists- i feel even almost ignored prantika was much more tallented.but she didn't fit gajji's cript, like gitasri in dis show!!:(

Anyway i wud love 2 hear anvesha sing any song.it does not matter which genre.she is ectremely gud.be it 'iss mod se jate hain','hum dil de chuke sanam' or 'aami je tomar' she was outstanding.i even liked'vari vari;' a lot

as 4 show, yes ash def. has dat!!n a cute face 2.thse may work in her favour.but i hope ppl r more discerning.i feel anvesha has her own charm, which is an old world one.so she is understated yet dignified

hmm...if ash has been touring a lot,she is not a prodigy.that means she has enuf contacts.i feel anvesha is a prodigy in true sense of d word.

Goofy,
Bappi Lahiri is a good composer gone bad. He has made some great music with Kishore early on but lost his script somewhere after the Disco bug hit him. He even created some good music during his early disco years but then completely fell apart is a few years. He and Rajesh Roshan from that era used to be inspired by RD's music a lot. There was a time where it was difficlut to seperate tunes created by these two contemporaries from RD's original tunes.
Some of Bappi's great songs are
Chalte Chalte (Chalte Chalte)
Kya khabar kya pata (Saaheb)
Pyar mein kabhi kabhi aisa ho jata hai (Chalte Chalte)
Kisi nazar ko tera (Aitbaar)
Shyaam rang ranga re (Apne Paraye)
Halke Halke, aaye chal kay (Apne Paraye)
Kaisey din jeevan mein aaye (Apne Paraye)
Pyaar maanga hai tumhi say (College girl)
Manzilein apnee jagah hain (Sharabi)
Aao tumhein chand pay lay jayein (Zakhmee)

Kalyani said...

thanks hard,
i too love the above mentioned songs from chalte chalte, college girl,zakhmee,aitbaar...yup,bappi lahiri did give us some good songs!!

gosh hard, u r really compiling an exhaustive list!!amazing!!keep going...bringing back old memories!! esp u r list abt the 70s...have to make time to listen to the songs listed again...thanks...

@hard

nice selection of songs.

Though i love bappi lahiri's songs, but everytime i listen to his songs, its always western inspiration. If you leave those early hits chalte chalte/sharabi etc, he is truely disco king only.

I love almost all the songs in Namak Halal/disco dancer.

as rightly said by goofy he got carried away with mithun

I was out for the weekend, just now returned back. You have huge collections of songs man. Love it.

I like both Anwesha as well as Aishwarya, almost equally. But Anwesha's voice is like Shreya. But Aishwarya has kind of little different voice. But both of them are extremely talented. They will beat Shreya and Sunidhi within 2/3 years for sure...
